We’ve bailed out over 9,000 out of poverty, says LASG

June 6, 2020

Lagos State government has improved the standard of living of not less than 9,000  residents of the state who are beneficiaries of its various training and skill acquisition programmes in the last one year.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Mrs.Cecilia Bolaji Dada, said this while giving the scorecard of her office in commemoration of one year in office of the state governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, during the week.

The commissioner revealed that apart from affecting the lives of the beneficiaries directly, the standard of living of thousands of their dependants have equally been affected positively.

The various training programmes, according to her short and long-term vocational training programmes, digital training and training on how to increase sales through online marketing.

The commissioner said that apart from the 6,300 students who graduated from the 18 skills acquisition centres across the state last year, over 150 rural women were trained in agricultural enterprise, 500 women benefited from online marketing, while over 2,200 vulnerable women were equally trained and equipped with start-up packs for the various skills acquired.
